Sony had more than just PS3 price cut to reveal at its Gamescom press conference today: it also announced that it will be releasing a new budget-priced PSP model that sports a new design and curiously ditches the WiFi capability that the PSP has had since its debut. No word of a North American release just yet, but folks in Europe will be able to pick it up this fall for €99 (or about $140, though we're guessing the actual US price would come in below that; the standard PSP-3000 currently demands €130 in Europe). Hit the gallery below for a closer look.
Update: Sony has now also confirmed that the device will be dubbed the PSP E-1000, and that it will indeed only be available in PAL territories.

Sony has confirmed the inclusion of Skype and Foursquare for PlayStation Vita.
Sony also confirmed that all PS Vita games will be sold from the PlayStation Store, as well as on physical media from shops.
Skype was rumoured for inclusion back in June. Microsoft became the new owner of Skype in May 2011. Was this deal inked before then?
Foursquare is location spotting technology that enables you to check-in at various real-life locations such as the gym, or the pub.
The pair were confirmed during Sony's Gamescom 2011 press conference this evening.

August 16th, 2011, 22:39 Posted By: wraggster
Sony has just confirmed, for CVG, a PS3 price cut to £199 in the UK.
The news comes following Andrew House's announcement of PS3 price cuts for the US and EU at GamesCom effective from today.
Amazon UK beat Sony to the punch, however, as the publisher's conference began in Cologne. The online retailer dropped the 320GB model to £215.20 and the 160GB model to £192.
Many were expecting a PS3 price cut to be announced during Sony's GamesCom conference especially since Nintendo's Wii U reveal at E3 earlier this year.
Ubisoft tipped a price cut for both 360 and PS3 this year back in June.

SCEE has just confirmed that it will indeed release the 24 inch 3D display that it announced for North America at E3 this year, only it hasn't quite retained the bargain appeal of the US offering.
The platform confirmed that the display will launch in EU in Autumn for 499 Euros - which is as good as £436 - with two pairs of glasses. It made no mention of any bundled game. The press conference room went quiet.
Let's compare that to US; they will get the TV with admittedly only one pair of glasses, and a copy of Motorstorm Apocalypse for $499. Slap that figure into a currency converter and it'll spit out £303.
Rip-off-Britain in full effect then. And with that price you'd probably do better to look around - there are other small-size 3D displays already available for less.
Sony reconfirmed that the 24 inch TV will also come with 'Simulview' functionality - a feature that lets two people (wearing the 3D glasses) to see two completely different views (in 2D) at the same time, eradicating the need to play two-player games in split-screen.

August 16th, 2011, 22:18 Posted By: wraggster
Crysis developer Crytek has said that dedicated handheld games consoles are losing ground to multifunctional tablet devices in the portable space.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, the developer of hardcore shooting games said that it has no immediate interest in Sony's PlayStation Vita, despite the team's willingness to adopt and experiment with new, high-end technology.
"While it's a nice achievement from Sony in the first step it's not something we would take into consideration in the short term," said Crytek managing director Avni Yerli.
Yesterday Heavy Iron Studios criticised handheld consoles, in particular the Vita, claiming that the audience no longer wants a single-function gaming portable when iOS and Android systems offer so much more functionality.
Yerli agreed that tablets offer more, stating: "I can see that the multifunctions that devices like tablets offer is a big advantage of them. And I think people want one mobile device that can do multiple things.
"Considering this, I think those handhelds are lacking in that area and they are losing ground, actually. I think they have to be more innovative."
Crytek is very open to new technology, said Yerli, so long as the team can get excited about what it offers or it fits into the overall philosophy of the Crytek business.
"In the first place anything new and exciting gets our attention, regardless of what it is. But then the second step is does it fit to what we want to do? Will our people like to work on this? It's all very important. The team must pick it up as well, or a dedicated team we think can pick it up. But ultimately it must make sense in the context of Crytek."
"And then sometimes we say 'OK, that's a nice piece of technology but it doesn't fit' so we leave it. It's a matter of whether it fits basically, with the strategy of Crytek."
Crytek is currently working on free-to-play game Warface with Tencent and Kinect exclusive Ryse.

Sony has confirmed that it is to cut the price of the PlayStation 3 with immediate effect.
The 160GB model will now retail at €249 / $249 / ¥24,980 / £199 and the 320GB console for $299 in the US with European, UK and Japanese equivalents yet to be decided.
To some surprise Sony also announced a new value model PSP during its press conference at Gamescom in Germany today, priced at €99, without WiFi support.
However, the company did not reveal anymore solid details on the European launch of its next handheld, the PlayStation Vita, which is currently scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2012, following a late 2011 release in Japan.
Sony's PlayStation branded 3D TV, first shown at E3 this year, will retail at €499 (£436) and come with two pairs of glasses.
Sony demoed a number of titles for the Vita system, including Nihilistic's Resistance: Burning Skies, Double 11's LittleBigPlanet, Reality Fighters from Novorama and new IP Escape Plan.
During the presentation, new Sony Europe CEO Jim Ryan reiterated that all PlayStation Vita games will be available to buy as downloads from the PlayStation Store. It will also support Skype and Foursquare services.
According to Michael Denny, Worldwide Studios boss for Europe, Sony is "confident we will have the strongest launch line up on a console ever," for Vita.
