Every console needs a beat 'em up and PlayStation owners are lucky enough to have been seduced by Virtua Fighter for many years now. We're split in the office between Tekken and VF, but we look forward to the argument continuing for many years to come.
Sega's new fighter is in training exclusively for a PS3 launch next spring, which may or may not coincide with Sony's PS3 launch. We'll all have to wait and see, but you can see more of VF below. See what we did there?

In a statement issued to GamesIndustry.biz, Sony has denied any responsibility for the closure of Lik-Sang - accusing the online retailer of "sour grapes".
The statement begins by observing that Sony Computer Entertainment has successfully sued Pacific Game Technology, which uses Lik-Sang as one of its trading names, for infringing intellectual property rights.
"Lik-Sang did not contest this case (i.e. they did not turn up and therefore incurred no legal costs). We have been awarded substantial costs against Lik-Sang which have not been paid," the statement claims.
"We would therefore strongly deny that our actions have had anything to do with this website closing (we assume the legal entity is still trading), and would suggest that this release is sour grapes on behalf of Lik-Sang which is aimed to belittle Sony Computer Entertainment and the British judicial system that found against them."
Earlier today, Lik-Sang announced it was going out of business, citing a series of lawsuits filed by Sony as the reason for the closure. The retailer also alleged that several SCE executives purchased import PSP hardware and software on its website.
Sony responded, "The purchasing of PSP consoles by SCE employees would be for investigatory purposes. We would also like to express our surprise at a company releasing personal information about its consumers, as this is contrary to data protection principles around the world."

The early reviews for Namco's PSP-exclusive flight game are in, and they're good! The critics have unanimously applauded the game's graphics, sound, music, depth and controls. With such care placed into games like Tekken: Dark Resurrection and the original Ridge Racer, it appears that Namco is quickly becoming the PSP's leading publisher. Let's see what the critics had to say:
Gamespot (82/100) - "Ace Combat X plays surprisingly well on the PSP. Although its visuals aren't quite as slick as in the PS2 installments, it's a remarkably intense action game that you can take with you on the go."
GameBrink (89/100) - "I didn't think I'd see another quality air combat game like it until Namco's eventual PS3 outing but Ace Combat X has arrived to prove me wrong. From the visuals to the audio and the controls, the developers custom tailored the PS2 Ace Combat engine to fit in the PSP's profile. And they didn't just port it; they actually improved on it as if Ace Combat X was the next title in the series and not a portable spin-off."
IGN (87/100) - "Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception makes a spectacular landing on the PSP. It has everything longtime fans of the series could possibly want, along with a few extras they're probably not expecting. Deception also looks great and runs well, offering a near identical experience as what's on the PS2."

Lyrics of all songs are included in the game's manual as bonus.
Prior song selection, you will have several options available, such as speed & fader adjustment, mirror mode selection and more. After completion of a song, you will receive a summary of your performance, including a combo & break counter, rating and score.
Your achievements are saved into a Ranking Chart. Additionally, you can unlock new tracks and items in the Gallery Mode.
Depending on the difficulty level, DJ Max can be played in either 4 button (left, up, triangle, circle) or 6 button mode (left, up, right, square, triangle, circle). You can further manually increase the speed with the L/R buttons.
DJ Max contains a number of game modes and extras as listed up below. Be warned that rookies might have their difficulties in the beginning; DJ Max's difficulty level is adjusted to experienced gamers.

Stumbled across this PSP stand at Radioshack tonight. It's only $9.95 so I figured I had to try it out...Design is pretty good and the holder actually tillts forward/backwards for good viewing angle. It does have a built in amplifier but I found either the speaker is crap and cann't handle it or the amplifier is just too dirty because at more then half volume it distorts something fierce.
There is a headphone jack in the back, so I ended up plugging my Creative 2-piece speakers into it and they sound 100x better compared to the built in speaker. There is a switch to disable the illumination wich is a must...those blue LEDs are BRIGHT!!! I'd give this unit an 8 out of 10 due to the poor sound quality of the speakers. If the unit didn't come with a headphone jack, it would have been given worse.
This is a pretty decent unit and for $9.95 it's a pretty good bargain compared to the other competition. Check it out on RadioShack's website at http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search

News/release from SG57
Unstuck
Features:
Fix/Repair Stuck Pixels (possibly dead ones?)
Works by flashing Red, Blue and Green (contain 16 million colors) color'd pixels on each pixel randomly very fast for an extended period of time in hopes of unsticking a stuck pixel.
Search/Find Stuck Pixels
Works by manipulating the screen in 3 ways: Black, White and Fading. This allows you to look for stuck pixels yourself, any color, thus saving you time since if you DONT have any stuck pixels, you'd be repairing/fixing nothing.
Very short intro!
All my projects released so far have had quite an intro, this is the first to actually not keep you waiting during the intro.
Power Tick
This is in the latest version. It is a crucial thing to have in all screen repair apps as it will update the psp, as if a button were pressed, so the screen doesnt shut off.
Controls:
Menu:
Up/Down - Navigate
X - Run option
Testing for Stuck Pixels:
L Trigger - Black Background
R Trigger - White Background
X - Fading Background (black->white->black smooth transitions)
[] - Hide Message Dialog
Global:
Start - Return to main menu
HOME - Exit
Music Note - Screenshot
Extras:
Heart-warming exit screen
Credits (also cool looking)
'Easy to use' interface
Source Code included (very good for beginners as its commented alot and has alot of useful techniques
/* UPDATE
Fixed download link + added power tick + optimized some code. Read features for more info.
UPDATE */
I just hope someone finds this useful as it took me ~4-5 hours to produce (had to break in the middle for food :P)

Glynnder posted this news/release:
I saw unnecessary RAM usage in this, as the text for the counter and stopwatch were images, I also discovered that the counter could only reach 60 and the timer kind of crashed at some point.
So, I rewrote both of the so they are both unlimited, the counter shows any number, (all from -99 to 999 fit in the 'box') and the timer shows milli's, secs, mins, and hours.
I also put Xandus iCalculator in this.
Changelog:
Bugfix
Added iCalculator
Freed up RAM
Switched from images to text (keping the file size
and RAM usage small)
Completely rewrote Counter
Completely rewrote Timer

Proving that a picture can say a thousand physics and particle-effect buzzwords, new screens of Full Auto 2: Battlelines, the PS3-only sequel to the Xbox 360-only original, have crashed on to our images tab.
It's hard to fault Battlelines for ticking all the expected videogame boxes - cars, guns, explosions - and then scribbling over the boxes with doodles of cars with guns, exploding. If there are subtle ways to show off the power of PS3, you won't find them here; it's all about speed and destructible everything, and mostly the latter.
Battlelines should get its chance to shine in the early days of PS3 online, being one of few non-Sony titles to have guaranteed network mash-ups - but bang for buck, our money's on next year's MotorStorm to take the demolition derby top-spot.

This fresh batch of in-game shots from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories shows off leading man Vic Vance's natty taste in tailoring, a bunch of Confederate flag-worshipping white trash you'll be running missions with and a dozy looking biker bloke in a spiked first world war helmet - brill. Hit the images tab to treat yourself to the new views.
If you're unfamiliar with Vice City Stories, check out our latest preview for the lowdown on what could be PSP's best ever game. VCS is out next week, with helicopters, jet-skis and bigger missions to beef up the already excellent action we loved in previous handheld GTA, Liberty City Stories. Expect to see a review soon.

Selected PS3 games will offer the option to install, PC-style, on to the console's hard drive to allow faster in-game loading times, it was revealed at last Friday's Gamer's Day conference.
Slash-'em-up Genji: Days of the Blade allows a 4GB install that will drastically reduce the wait between scenes, MTV has reported - although that's not the entire contents of the game, as playing without the disc in the drive provides no music.
It's rumoured that two other PS3 launch titles shown at Gamer's Day - Resistance: Fall of Man and Ridge Racer 7 - also have this feature, in which case punters with the 20GB PS3 may find that those three alone would fill up their hard drive.
The more cynical among us might wonder if that means we can expect lengthy loading times from PS3 titles that aren't borrowing a chunk of our hard drive space - it's certainly been the case with our experience of games running off disc at E3 and the Tokyo Game Show. But it's still a welcome choice, and with some form of hard drive guaranteed in every PS3, no-one will be left out of the option.

Sony has stated its intentions to prosecute companies for what it calls "grey importing" of its products, including the PS3, from other regions to within the EU.
This comes hot on the heels of Sony's court win against Hong Kong based online retailer Lik-Sang, the second time the two have clashed, this time over Lik-Sang's selling Japanese PSPs to EU customers. The judge found in favour of Sony, and deemed that various intellectual property rights had been violated by Lik-Sang's activities.
Sony also asserted its intentions to prosecute other retailers who sell the PS3 console--which is launching around three months earlier in Japan and the US--to Europeans desperate to get their hands on it for Christmas.
Sony stated: "The law is clear, grey importing PS2, PSP or PS3 into the EU, without the express permission of SCE is illegal. Therefore, we will utilise the full scope of the law to put a stop to any retailers who chose to do this."
The company explained the reasoning behind this policy as trying to "protect" European consumers "from being sold hardware that does not conform to strict EU or UK consumer safety standards (due to voltage supply differences etc.), [and] is not (in PS3's case) backwards compatible with either PS1 or PS2 software, [and] will not play European Blu-ray movies or DVDs, and will not be covered by warranty."
When asked if Sony would be pursuing private customers, such as those who advertise PS3s on auction sites such as eBay and offer to ship their own consoles overseas (for a price), a spokesperson said that Sony currently had no comment.

Rockstar Games' Bully has been the subject of controversy since it was first announced more than a year ago. The game shipped to retail last week after a failed 11th-hour attempt by Florida lawyer Jack Thompson to have it banned.
However, the controversy surrounding the game might not be over with just yet. In navigating the angst-filled halls of Bullworth Academy as 15-year-old Jimmy Hopkins, players can participate in some extracurricular tonsil hockey with significant others. But while these significant others are typically female, there's at least one other boy in the game whom Jimmy can successfully court, as documented by this in-game video from GameBrink.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board surprised some people last month when it issued a T-for-Teen rating for the game. The content descriptors listed for the game on the ESRB's Web site are crude humor, language, use of alcohol and tobacco, violence, and sexual themes. When asked about the boy-on-boy make-out sessions, the ESRB told GameSpot, "That content was considered in the assignment of the rating."
Thompson addressed ESRB president Patricia Vance in an e-mail he claimed to have sent to "every major news organization in America and the UK," as well as a host of lawmakers and industry representatives.
"Dear Ms. Vance," Thompson wrote, "We just found gay sexual content in Bully, as Jimmy Hopkins makes out with another male student. Good luck with your 'Teen' rating now, Patty."
A representative from Bully publisher Take-Two had not responded to a request for comment as of press time.
