While the PSP version of PaRappa the Rapper is pretty much the same game you know and love from the PS1 era (read: quick and easy port). Sony did add a few features to the game, which take advantage of the PSP’s wireless functionality. First, you can play against four other people using the Ad hoc versus mode. PaRappa the Rapper has a game sharing mode where you can send over the first stage of the game with Chop Chop Master Onion. However, the demo isn’t written to the memory stick. As soon as the PSP is turned off the demo is lost. Probably the most intriguing feature in the game are new songs to download through infrastructure mode. While the songs are a good addition these aren’t new stages. The new songs merely act as new background music over the same animations and button timing. I am a pretty big fan of PaRappa the Rapper, but this port is disappointing. The game is so easy to beat and so short I was hoping for at least one new stage in the game. Could Sony be holding something back? We will have more details around December 7 when the game is released. As PaRappa said, “You gotta believe!”

PSPman16 has updated his Lua game Conker Mini with what he says is the final release, the game comes in Eboot form so no messing with different Lua players trying to get it working. For those that remember the name this is a clone of sorts of the N64 game conker.

Dark Alex has released a new decryptor test that enables you to run the Ridge Racer 2 demo released yesterday on v2.71 firmware, heres what he posted:
Method to run the pbp demo of ridge racer 2 for "2.81" in firmware 2.71 with hen C, in 2.71 SE or in devhook emulating 2.71 (i haven't tested the last one but it should work).
- Download decrypter test
- With some pbp utility, such as pbp unpacker, extract the files from the pbp. Put the extracted file DATA.PSP in the root of memory stick.
- Run the decrypter test with 1.50 kernel if you are in or in devhook emulating 1.50 if you are in HEN.
The decrypter test will output a file called "DATA_OUT.PSP in the root of memory stick. Using this file as the data.psp, rebuild the pbp. Change the text "2.81" with some hexadecimal editor to something <= 2.71
Ready. No you can play it. (of course if you are in 2.71, you only can execute it while hen is in memory).
This method doesn't work with other demos like world tour soccer, because, despite they decrypt, they may have some kind of protection and they crash. (not even locoroco decrypted runs).

New from SuccessHK
Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception brings the intense combat action to your PSP, as you fight for control of the skies. The Federal Republic of Auerila is at war with it's neighbor, the Democratic Republic of Leasath. Auerila was said to have exploited Leasath during a civil war. You are the leader of Gryphus Squadron, of the Aurelian Air Force -- which means you don't care about the politics behind the war. You're a fighter pilot with a job to do, so get in the cockpit and get ready for action. Realistic radio chatter

At yesterday's Sony event, we reviewed a few details about how the PS3 will handle music playback. The system will rip your own audio CDs to MP3 or ATRAC, logging ID details through Gracenote. Sony also says that the device will download and add album art if it can be located.
Like the Xbox 360, the PS3 will also support iPods and USB mass-storage devices; it can copy MP3 or ATRAC files to the internal hard drive.
With these media options, Sony keeps pushing the PS3 as a device capable of more than gaming. We're not sure how many of these features we'll use, but maybe gamers' families will. We just hope that these non-gaming decisions didn't contribute much to the cost of the system.

Games bought through the PlayStation Store will be able to run on five-or-fewer systems. Of course, if you own more than five systems, you can probably afford to pay for the game again on the sixth. (Hah, we kid; you didn't get so rich by wasting money on a game you already bought.) The important application for the five-or-less rule is that you can log in to the PlayStation Store at a friend's house and re-download a game for free.
When you leave your friend's house, Sony says that you can leave the game there. If the title is an online multiplayer game, only one of you can use it at a time. But if it's an offline game, we were told that the multiple systems can continue to play it.
Sounds like you and your four best friends may be splitting PS3 game downloads.

Before jumping into Genji to deal some massive damage to historically accurate giant crabs (nyuk nyuk) during Sony's Gamer's Day event on Thursday, MTV News' Stephen Totilo noticed a curious menu option:
INSTALL
What's this all about? Totilo writes, "Also unexpected was a feature in Genji to install the game, committing 4GB of data from the game's Blu-ray disc to the PS3's hard drive -- a three-minute one-time-only procedure available from the game's start menu that a Sony rep said cuts down in-game load times from about 15 seconds to four seconds."
So, regardless of the debate about the relative read speeds of 2x Blu-ray drives and 12x DVD drives, we can all recognize the obvious benefits of having a hard drive included by default. Why Genji appears to be the only title sporting this option is another question. Did excessive load times in the PS3's first finished title necessitate extraordinary measures, or will most games offer this time-saving option, * la PC games.

So, there is bad news and good news. The bad news is, despite the popularity of the Gamerscore and Achivements on Xbox Live, the PS3 won't offer that. Despite earlier rumours on the subject, developers will have to pick and choose if they want to have a system like that. Sony says first party titles will offer 'entitlements' ... but none of the launch titles will have it. There is good news for PS3 fans, though, as Sony says it will replace controllers if the batteries wear out. The lithium batteries the company is shipping the controllers with should last 'for many years'.
