March 24, 2008 - Last week SEGA ominously filed a new trademark for a property named Sonic Unleashed and now we have images to go along with the rumored name. Found earlier today the images that you'll find in our gallery appear to depict a new three-dimensional Sonic game similar to that of Sonic Adventure. We'd bet our bottom dollar that this new Sonic title is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 at the very least (based on the high-def screens), but we'll wait until SEGA officially makes a comments – something they've declined to do throughout today – to speculate any further. For now, enjoy the screenshots
source IGN
Check out the vid here. Personally, it looks promising as its got a retro Genesis feel to it. Hopefully it will make up for the travesties the last few games have been.Coming for Wii, 360 and PS3!

Players of the PlayStation 3 version of Condemned 2: Bloodshot are reporting that the game's audio has a tendency to drop out or "snap," particularly during the first level.
According to a post on Sega's forums, Sega is currently investigating the cause of the problem, but suggests that using a standard AV cable, instead of an HDMI cable, should fix things in the mean time.
The audio is an integral part of Condemned 2's gloomy and creepy atmosphere. Having it drop out every thirty seconds, as some reports claim is happening with the PS3 version, would all but ruin the immersion and experience. Hopefully Sega will release a patch to solve the problem soon.

Although the PlayStation 3 is quite the lovely Blu-ray player in most respects, one issue has nagged remote junkies from day one: the absence of IR. Now, however, the highly-anticipated IR2BT Infrared-to-Bluetooth converter is on the market, and sure enough, it promises to transmit "all 51 Sony Blu-ray remote codes including the PS button for Power On / Off."
The unit itself measures in at 4.5- x 3- x 1-inches, operates on a pair of AA cells or a mini-USB connector and doesn't even require you to own a soldering iron. Ready to control your PS3 via a universal IR remote without getting a degree in electrical engineering? Hit up the read link and hand over your $55 [£27.63], bub.

Sony has apologised for the problems with the PlayStation Store yesterday and updated it with all the bits we were expecting and a few more.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is now there in all its downloadable glory for GBP 24.99, along with a UEFA Euro 2008 demo, the Unreal Tournament 3 and Turok map packs, and the Eye of Judgement "Bio Rebellion" card set (GBP 6.99).
Not only that, but PSone title Reel Fishing has been added (GBP 3.49) to both the PS3 and PSP stores.
Trailers on the PS3 Store include Everybody's Golf: World Tour, Eye of Judgement, GT5 Prologue, Dark Sector and Dynasty Warriors 6, although last night's GTA IV trailer is conspicuously absent. Oh well, you can get a high-definition version from the US Store instead.
"We would like to apologise for the lack of a PS Store refresh yesterday," Sony said.
"As previously mentioned, we unfortunately experienced some last minute technical difficulties and were unable to publish the new content as planned.
"However, we have been working hard to resolve these issues and are pleased to be able to let you know that [all of the above] is now live on the UK store."
So hopefully that's that. Phew.

Just in case you've been hiding under a slimy rock during the last 14 hours, at 10pm last night Rockstar released what will be the final GTA IV trailer prior to the sequel's release on April 29.
Now baiting us further, the company's unleashed ten new Grand Theft Auto IV screenshots into the wild. And you can gawp at that lot right here on this page.
Shortly after the last trailer hit, Rockstar revealed details on the Rockstar Social Club, a website dedicated to tracking all kinds of crazy stats and stuff in GTA IV and future games from the developer.

On its online instruction manuals, Sony Computer Entertainment has a few images for use as labels. There's one for the original PSP-1000 series, and another for the current PSP-2000 series. However, curiously there's also a placeholder image for the logical next-step: the PSP-3000 series.
The availability of the PSP-3000 image on the PlayStation site shouldn't come as a signal that a redesign is impending -- it's clear that Sony plans on revising the hardware through its supposed ten year life cycle. However, it does seem to display a bit too much forethought from the web designers that created and uploaded this image. How long will it take before we hear rumblings of yet another PSP redesign?

Joke all you want about poor PSP software sales over in Japan, but you'll have to always add a footnote thanks to Monster Hunter. The first one topped a million, the second one may very well top two million, and the third one, just released today, looks like it's off to a fantastic start.
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G got Japan to rise early on a chilly Spring Thursday morning as many major retailers gave the game the Dragon Quest treatment and opened shop ahead of the standard 10:00AM opening time. One such shop was the giant Tsutaya retailer in Shibuya. The home to the official launches of products such as the Xbox, the Xbox 360, and any number of Dragon Quest games was given the honor of being the official starting point for MHP2ndG.
The Tsutaya launch event kicked off at 6:40AM, twenty minutes ahead of the start of sales. Famitsu.com reports that over 120 people were lined up for the event. But more telling was the presence of television cameras, signaling that Monster Hunter may have some mainstream appeal. Either that, or Capcom had gotten some celebrity talent to join in on the launch fun.
While Monster Hunter may very well have penetrated the mainstream, it turns out that there were, in fact, two major stars in attendance at the event. Junichi Koumoto and Satoshi Inoue from comedy duo Jichou Kachou took to the stage prior to the game's release and offered a few words on their love of all things Monster Hunter. In addition to being fans of the series, they're also featured in the commercials.
MHP2ndG producer Ryouzou Tsujimoto was also in attendance at the launch event. He greeted the crowd, then said he was surprised at the number of fans and media in attendance.
A crowd of 120 people is actually rather tame for a major game release in Japan. But it turns out that this was on the lower end of the lines that formed around Tokyo. Famitsu.com sent its reporters around town and found lines topping 200 in Ikebukuro. Just to the south, in Shinjuku, a line of 12 people that had formed at the large Yodobashi Camera at 1:00AM had grown to over 300 just prior to the store's early 9:00AM opening time. As clerks rushed to sell the game, the line kept on growing, eventually reaching into the 600s thirty minutes after opening!
No Monster Hunter for you, according
to this sold-out sign at a Tsutaya retailer
These were some hardcore fans, it seems. Famitsu spoke to a few who'd chosen to line up for the game and found that most had invested over 1,000 hours into Monster Hunter Portable 2nd. One person even claimed a total time of 1,400 hours!
"Things haven't been this lively since Smash Bros X.," an employee of the Akihabara Yodobashi Camera, itself having served a line of over 200, told Famitsu. "No, actually it's probably livelier than that. At this rate, it's possible that we'll sell out by the evening."
He wasn't exaggerating, as reports of sell outs were widespread. The Asobit City game shop in Akihabara sold out of the game within an hour of opening time. The Shinjuku Yodobashi actually sold out of the Hunters Pack G PSP bundle pack two hours before opening time (the store distributed tickets).
The PSP has been at the top of Japan's hardware charts for the past couple of weeks. Judging by the impressive showing today, it will likely keep that crown throughout the remainder of this month, and possibly into next month as well. This time, however, there's an unexpected cause to the system's success: a game.

kid101skater has claimed that he has via the PSP got an exploit working on the PS3, now this does make some sense because as we know the PSP is fully hacked to bits and possibly the most impressive homebrew scene exists on the PSP.
Heres the info that kid101skater revealed:
Ok we have come up with a name for the project and would like to let you know that it's called Project E Premo ( e = exploit ) ... We have also managed to find a way to crash the PS3. We will keep you updated and release more details in the following days. Also we are not posting videos until it's 100% complete... and we will not just release a video... We will also release the project files when we have completed.
Now for the moment take this as a rumour, most hacks get debunked but its always nice to know that groups are trying their best to get homebrew on the PS3 and more interesting if its via the PSP.
Update:
We have learned that RichDevX is the main person behind this exploit who has been working alongside FreePlay, and that they were not able to crash the PSP.

Sony has told Eurogamer that "last minute technical difficulties" are to blame for the absence of yesterday's expected PlayStation Store update.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue was supposed to go on sale, alongside a demo of UEFA Euro 2008 according to EA, and the new Grand Theft Auto IV trailer.
"Unfortunately due to some last minute technical difficulties, we were unable to publish the new content to the PS Store yesterday," Sony told us just now.
"We are working to resolve these issues and will let you know as soon as new content is posted."
The platform holder has not said whether or not we will see the update today or later. So fans of GT might want to go outside in the rain and buy the Blu-ray version instead.

PlayStation division worked on ‘online community’ for PSOne; ‘YouTube’-like video channel was created for PS2
Sony’s PlayStation division was tantalisingly close to spearheading the ‘online social community’ phenomenon – beating the likes of MySpace to the idea.
That’s according to former Sony Entertainment President Chris Deering, who revealed to MCV that a secret Facebook-style web networking platform was being worked on behind-the-scenes by those responsible for launching PSOne – but was canned at the last minute.
In addition, a ‘streamed PlayStation TV channel’ was also trialled for PS2 back in 2002 – four years ahead of YouTube – but was also thrown out because of a global lack of interest in broadband.

News/release from sg57:
Here's a class for you OSlib users, capable of handling multiple image and spritesheet animations - any size, your only limit is the RAM and OSlib's PNG-format-only restriction. As a benchmark for you - about 175 160x172 PNG images is where it'll fill up either completely or be very close to.
The documentation and example usage is in the header itself (on the important stuff, some of the stuff is a given) so no need for some online documenation, however it would be nice. (i may do it later) The sample should also aid in your understanding (not really that hard though)
It's a C++ class so for you C users out there do the following to use it, note this information is also in the header file so you don't need to reference back here each time:
Add -lstdc++ to your LIBS makefile line
Change your source file's extension to .cpp INSTEAD of .c
That should do it (you may find using a C/C++ combo better then just C).
Didn't take long at all to write, but debugging took some time
The sample is straightforward and easy to follow. You'll find using this for animations gives you just as amount of control as an image does - rotation, scaling, etc. and then some.
Credits:
Inspired by Grimfate's animLib in Lua
yaustar for his help with a troubling vector situation
Brunni (@ ps2dev) for Oslib
If you do use this, I only ask you state that you used this, by me (sg57), to handle animations.
thanks and I hope this comes in handy
DOWNLOAD
(like 500kb - the animations in the sample give it it's size)

In Dallas, Texas, while a 7-year-old boy headed to his chemotherapy appointment Tuesday, thieves were at work on his family’s car, making off with his medicine, school homework, and video games. If that wasn’t enough, it all happened on the day before his birthday.
Kyle Springs and his family drove from Oklahoma to Dallas for a monthly chemotherapy treatment for a tumor in his brain. The thieves struck as he and his parents ate breakfast at a Denny’s restaurant.
“It had my homework and my medicine in it, and I couldn’t leave my medicine. I needed to take it,” he said.
Along with the backpack of medicine, homework, a PlayStation Portable (PSP), and video games, his medical records were stolen as well.
According to Kyle’s mother, video games helped him escape the pain.
“They keep his attention off sitting there, getting that medication that he knows is going to make him sick,” Trish Springs said.
When authorities heard about Kyle’s situation, they stepped up. Officers presented Kyle with a new PSP, video games, movies, and money for his medication at the Children’s Medical Center.
In just two and a half hours, officers from the Dallas Police Department raised more than $1,000 for Kyle.
