With just under a fortnight to go before folks go a-grabbin' for Sony's PlayStation Eye, a Senior Producer for SCEA has come forward with a few more lingering details about the peripheral. For starters, Sony apparently has plans to integrate the device into other upcoming titles such as SingStar, which will enable users to "make their own personalized music videos to share with family and friends online." Additionally, the EyeCreate software -- which will allow individuals to "save, edit and share PlayStation Eye videos, photos and audio clips" through their PS3 -- will be available as a free download on the PlayStation Store. Finally, those not interested in the bundled Eye of Judgment game can opt for a standalone unit on October 23rd, which is set to ring up at $39.99.

News/release from JasonUK
Hi all
Here is a quick hacked up ELF menu for Pandora.
The idea is to replace ms0:/kd/resurrection.elf on your magic memory stick with this, so the PSP loads it when you insert the Pandora battery + memory stick, and it shows a list of ELFs inside the ms0:/elf folder (it will give a warning and shutdown if the folder doesnt exist or there are no ELFs inside it)
Use D-Pad up/down to choose the ELF you want to run, and press X.
There sometimes seem to be problems if the filename contains spaces or symbols, so use underscores(_) instead. These will be converted to spaces on the menu, so they look nicer
If the ELF fails to run, the screen usually flickers and remains on the ELF menu.
Note: you must use ELFs with this, EBOOT.PBP files are likely to fail (Use PBPUnpacker to extract DATA.PSP from whatever EBOOT you want to run, and rename it to whatever.elf)
Finally, there is a Shutdown option at the bottom.
Installation:
- Set up your magic memory stick with Pandora (Team C+D/Prometheus)
- Set up your magic memory stick with Despertar_cementario v3 (previous versions should work but will be in darkness on the Slim)
- Make a new folder on the root of the memory stick, "elf"
- Move ms0:/kd/resurrection.elf to ms0:/elf and any other utilies you want access to
- Copy the included resurrection.elf to ms0:/kd
- Use Pandora as normal
Recommended stuff to go into ms0:/elf:
- The real resurrection.elf from Despertar_cementario v3
- upNandTool64 by cory149
- Possibly KeyCleaner/IdStorage Manager, though I havent tested either of these. (Should work as long as you include their PRXs in the "elf" folder, as they load them using relative paths)
- Any other useful 1.50 kernel tool that you can get to work
If you find any problems, tell me. It's not perfect, but it should have no trouble displaying at least 20 apps.
Thanks.

News/release from Victor_raymond
I have some C++ experience, but this is my first time working with Lua.
I decided to enhance the homebrew PSP Trivia v1.0 by Anonymous D, because his trivia was very limited to the things I want it to do or it is suppose to do.
I could have re-wrote the code entirely (long time) but since this is "Learning/Exam season" I thought I would release this early for the students. So I have to use Anonymous D code as a skeleton.
This would be my 1st post and my 1st release ^_^ *yay*.
I hope you guy enjoy this programs as I do.
I have tested this Trivia on 3.40 OE.

VTPW Lua Trivia v1.0
* New features & changes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Added background music at selection screen (less boring)
- Hold "select" to see Previous Answer (very useful)
- A simple shortcut to play the Trivia on PC
(useful when your psp is low battery at school,
don't say it will never happen, procastinator)
- Press "Start" to stop Trivia and see your result at anytime
- Questions can now take up to 4 lines!
- Proper Score counting (bug fixed)
- Trivia now support up to 15 quizzes
- Trivia now support up to 25 questions per quiz
- New Skin (jpg) and layout design by ME
* Known bugs
~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Rarely (but it does happen), the score counted wrong if you press x too fast)
- The "Exit" only work on PC, but not on PSP due to the lua player v0.20
So use the "PSP home button" to exit the program
* Bonus
~~~~~~~
- I have included 100 Official question of the New U.S Citizen tests.
* Future update?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- I might have to re-write 90% of lua code, because Anonymous D did not use
looping. Why is looping important? Because I may plan to support 50+ quiz
so looping is necessary to remove tedious work.
- I think these would be great addtion to VTPW Trivia program
( I don't the time to implement these feature, so anyone is welcome to do it)
1. Randomize questions (a must have)
2. Word Wrap the questions and answers (a must have)
3. Sound effect for wrong and right answer
4. Sound effect for scrolling the menu and answer choices.
5. Randomize background/skin

News/release from aliasneo
Hi there guys, I have made an update of the ASCII Boot Splash to work on later firmwares now. I would appreciate if anyone could test it out on 3.60/3.71 and earlier (3.52) firmwares for both PSP Slim and Phat.
After reports of the original Phat version not working on firmwares above 3.52 or on PSP Slim I have now updated the program.
This BETA, I want to use as an opportunity to test exactly which firmwares this will work on and which it wont.
Unfortunately due to some Sony changes, it has become difficult to run the same code on the earlier and later firmwares from the same program.
Hopefully I can find from this what does and doesn't work, if I am unable to find a solution, I will maintain this version in parallel with the earlier version for the phat PSP.
Any and all comments and feedback appreciated.
Thanks to the community for their help in upgrading my knowledge to the later firmwares and to everyone who is helping maintain this project by testing and feedback.

News/release of a new version of ExultPSP by Phantom Fighter:
A small update, with much requested inverted run/walk and some bug fixes.
Now that I've scoured every nook and cranny of Britannia on the psp, think it'll soon be time to follow the unwitting human female Gwenno to the Serpent Isle?
Enjoy!

Sony's model naming is just the worst and most confusing one they could have possibly come up with. They might have done this on purpose ... but well, that doesn't solve the problem.
Not only do they name their models with the HDD size - which makes no sense at all as the HDD is upgradeable with any laptop HDD - but even consoles with same HDD aren't the same across regions.
So I propose a new model naming ...
v1: no flashcard ports, 4x usb, GS+EE+RDRAM PS2 HW (like the NTSC/J and NTSC/U 20gb)
v2: flashcard ports, 4x usb, GS+EE+RDRAM PS2 HW (like the NTSC/J and NTSC/U 60gb)
v3: flashcard ports, 4x usb, GS PS2 HW (like the PAL 60GB and NTSC/U 80gb)
v4: no flashcard ports, 2x usb, no PS2 HW (like the NTSC/J, (NTSC/U) and PAL 40GB)
I guess v1 and v2 could be seen as one version as the motherboard is the same ... so maybe they should be named v1.0 and v1.1?
Let me know what you think of the proposed naming...

Hi folks,
I have added 2 tutorials, one about timers and the other about getting homebrew working on 3.xx firmwares. There were a lot of request about this so with the help of CpuWhiz:thumbup: at the ps2dev.org forums I have added a tutorial about this.
I have also fixed some errors in the already existing tutorials.
Hope it helps a lot
greets ghoti

As of today Sony's revamped RRPs have come into play for PlayStation 3. The 40GB PS3 is now on sale for £299 and the original 60GB model now has a new asking price of £349, which comes with two first-party games. Once the 60GB's gone, that's it. Sony's phasing that one out.
But rather than the new price point coming in with a bang, it seems to have tip-toed in through the back door without anyone noticing.
While pondering around a HMV store in central London late last night, a CVG reader snapped the HMV guy ripping the £425 stickers off the PS3 boxes.
He wasn't even doing it very well, as you can clearly see he's torn the box where the collectable sticker used to be on the now collectable 60GB PS3 box.
See for yourself with these pictures straight from the scene. And god bless the mobile phone.

Capcom has said that the high development costs of working on the PlayStation 3 are the reason the publisher is moving its latest Monster Hunter title to the Nintendo Wii.
Previous Monster Hunter games were Sony exclusives for the PS2 and PSP, and the company has enjoyed considerable success with the franchise clocking up sales of over 4.5 million units.
"Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title," said Katsuhiko Ichii, Capcom's managing corporate officer, according to Thompson Financial.
Capcom revealed Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii at a recent Nintendo press briefing, although it had originally said the game would appear on the PlayStation 3.
The publisher said earlier this month that it was now shifting its development strategy for Sony products to the PlayStation 3, where previously it had dedicated the majority of its efforts on the PlayStation 2.

If you've been looking to jump into PSP land for personal reasons, perhaps are looking to upgrade to a new PSP-2000 "slim," consider yourself a Star Wars fanboy, or maybe just like white things, the new Darth Vader PSP could be just the ticket. The limited edition unit should be on store shelves today, but only comes as part of a $199 bundle which includes the new Star Wars Battlefront game. Of course, we're guessing most people willing to track down a PSP with Darth Vader's likeness silkscreened on the back aren't going to balk at playing a little bit of Battlefront now and then.

Konami has finally unveiled the first shots from the PlayStation Portable version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 and some show England star Michael Owen weaving down the pitch. Even though the publisher is still remaining tight-lipped on other details of the PSP edition, we're still keen to kick off with the game nearer its UK release on November 20.
