Kagato posted an entry into the Neoflash Coding Contest, heres the full details:
Nickname: Kagato
Project name : Bumper Harvest
From : Australia
Division : PSP Game
Original enter : YES
Support Motion : NO
In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10 : NO
Project description:
Yes, it's harvest time down at the bumper farm!
Grab all the ripe red bumpers from the field!
Bumper Harvest is a tribute to a very popular (and very addictive)
casual game for the PC.
Use the D-Pad to aim the ball launcher left and right.
Hold down L to fine-tune your aiming.
Fire the ball by pressing X.
As the ball hits the small bumpers, they light up and are removed from the
field. Hit all the red bumpers to progress to the next level.
Red bumpers are worth 200 points; all others are worth 100 points.
Green bumpers give you 3 targeting guides each. There are two on each level.
Hold down R while aiming to use a targeting guide.
Guides are not saved between levels, so use 'em or lose 'em.
The yellow bumper gives you a bonus score multiplier. There is one on each level. All bumpers hit after the yellow bumper on the current shot are worth 10 times their normal score.
There are also two fixed bumpers on each level which are simply obstacles, and two active bumpers which give the ball a boost.
At the bottom of the screen is the return chute, which gives you a free ball if the ball lands in it at the end of the shot.
I'm happy with the way it's turned out, but I've cut it pretty fine.
Bumper Harvest is written in Lua. The current version is a self-contained app using LuaPlayer 0.20, and installs the same as any other 1.5 app. Unfortunately this means the PSP Slim is not supported.
If I get time before the closing deadline I'll try and upload a version using LuaPlayer HM, but it's giving me some trouble with sound right at the moment. (I'm also including a copy as plain Lua in case it works with a player on the Slim.)

Project name : Paper Battle (currently version 1.0)
From : US
Division : PSP Game
Original enter : YES
Support Motion : NO(but would love to add it if LUA player had the ability!!!)
In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10 : NO
Project description:
This game is based of a game that me and my friends use to play before we had PSP, DS, Cellphones, etc. That game involved a piece of paper and 2 pens. On the game you would fold the paper into halve and draw a line down the middle. Next each person would draw 10 people 5 tanks, 3 cannons, 2 heli's, and one base. Each item had a predetermined life(amount of hits before dead). They would then take turns shooting at each other.
You took shots be placing a dot on your side of the field opposite of where you wanted to shoot. Next you would fold the paper over and push hard with the pen on the back side of the paper. This would transfer the dot across the field, causing a shot. That would hurt the character if it hit it, until it was dead and scratched out.
The point of the game was to be the last person standing. SO my game is very similar to that but electronically. Also I've added difficulty levels that make it harder to shoot and hit.
This game is the second released game by me and my company(the company consists of just me.) I spent all year on this and if it doesn't rate well I will probably sell all my PSP stuff(All ready packed up) and get a new laptop to code windows programs, and our school's $5,000-8,000 robot for FIRST Robotics. I wished I could have had time to ad AI but thats somthing that might get added in a future game. Also since LUA doesn't support the tilt sensor I was unable to add that to my game.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and try my game.

This new version adds the following features:
- added Virtual Earth and Yahoo! Maps support (thanks to boomerang for the idea)
- address search menu
- customizable cache size
- added an option to load neighborhood to cache
- switched to TTF font
- fixed a bug with favorites
- new buttons mapping
If you are curious, here is a quick video presentation I did for the previous version: http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=01tgRsq8HIM
The Virtual Earth and Yahoo Maps support was quite easy to add since the tile system is very similar to Google Maps.
The address search menu uses the Google Maps API.
You can now setup PSP-Maps to have a very big cache.
And you can use the "load neighborhood" option to load the tiles around the current position in the cache, with a large radius (useful to generate a map for offline usage).
This version is available on my website: http://royale.zerezo.com/psp/
Or as usual in attachment to this thread.

News/release from Red Squirrel:
This is the new version of my RSPsar Dumper!
This version has the compability with the new 3.93 Firmware, thanks to a unknown but very skilled "Blaky"
So a very BIG thank goes to him
RS Psar Dumper is a "derivated" from classical Psar Dumper (last version of which was released by M33 Team).
Its functions are the same of classical Psar Dumper (so dump Firmware from an Official Udpater Eboot), but it's more!
Infact this version has a user interface full of colors, more interactive and especially it has the new important function to make a dump of Firmware directly on PC, without using Memory Stick!
Infact this Homebrew has a USBHostfs connection function with a PC, so the program can read eboot directly from Hard Disk (that is a good profit because new Sony Updater Eboots weigh also more than 20Mb!) and it can also dump the Firmware directly on PC, so Memory Stick is NEVER used during the process!
v3.2
-Added the support for the 3.93 Firmware (thanks to Blaky!)
-Now program will be English in all PSPs, so italian.prx is been deleted.

Newly released today;
Tales of Rebirth is a beloved jewel of the “Tales of” series. The fantasy RPG combines an engaging plot with exciting game play, touching animated scenes and characters that you cannot help but fall in love with. To bring these characters to life, the illustrator Inomata Mutsumi and the cast of star studded voice actors/actresses performed their magic onto the game such that it shines out like a polished gem stone on your PSP.
The game takes place in Karegia, a kingdom from a fairy tale, where the intelligent Humas and the strong Gajyumas live together in peace under the fair Gajyuma king. However, under the prosperity an evil force lurks, and slowly but surely, it proceeds to close its fist around this peaceful land. It is up to the players, together with their favorite characters to purge the source of evil and save the people from their miseries.
Bandai Namco's Tales of Rebirth for Sony PSP™ is in stock today, shipping as region free Japanese version for US$ 48.90 only.

via Gamasutra
[In this informal opinion piece, Gamasutra publisher Simon Carless looks at the 'hardcore game renaissance' on the PlayStation 2, thanks to an influx of Japanese imports and the apparent willingness of Sony to concept approve quirkier titles.]
Having just received the new issue of Game Informer magazine with Alpha Protocol on the cover, I was very interested to spot an ad for O3 Entertainment's Chaos Wars, which SiliconEra has been discussing for a while.
It's coming out in April now for PS2 - there's a pre-order page on GameStop's website. This is actually a pretty obscure product - as the Wikipedia page explains:
"Chaos Wars is a crossover between several companies' console role-playing game series: Aruze's Shadow Hearts, Atlus's Growlanser, Idea Factory's Blazing Souls, Gakuen Toshi Vara Noir, Spectral Force, Spectral Souls and Hametsu no Mars, and RED Entertainment's Gungrave and Samurai Police/Shinsengumi Gunrouden."
But yet it's managed to get a U.S. release on PlayStation 2, and that's part of an interesting trend. As the PS2 hardware has matured, but continued to sell (heck, it managed 350,000 units in the U.S. in February), we seem to be seeing SCEA relax its concept approval on casual titles and Japanese niche games alike.
Time was it that standalone 2D games wouldn't make it out on PlayStation 2. It's difficult to work out what was actually permitted, since there are some extravagant rumors, but it certainly seems that titles like Arcana Heart wouldn't have made it out previously. And now it has.
With that in mind, I've assembled a brief list of some North American PS2 titles of recent and upcoming vintages that seem oriented specifically for the so-called "hardcore gamer."I have almost certainly missed some, so that's what the comments are for:
- Arcana Heart (PS2, Atlus, April 2008)
"A 2D arcade fighting game developed by Examu (formerly Yuki Enterprise)... the game features an original all-female cast (each a variation of the moe Anime-Girl archetype), and after choosing a character the player chooses an "elemental alignment" which determines the character's special moves."
- Taito Legends 2 (Destineer, May 2007)
"Taito Legends 2 is a follow-up collection of... Taito arcade games for the PlayStation 2 [including Cameltry, Cleopatra Fortune, Elevator Action Returns, and a host of others]... Bonus content includes hints, cheats and tips for most games, original game flyers, and one interview with Taito."
- King Of Fighters XI (SNK, November 2007)
"The latest installment of The King of Fighters series. The game continues the story of The King of Fighters 2003." But also see a host of others, including Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, World Heroes Anthology, Fatal Fury Battle Archives, and more. SCEA sometimes allowed compilations of SNK 2D titles before, but it definitely seems like they are getting more friendly as resources shift to Wii and next-gen consoles.
- Heavenly Guardian (UFO Interactive, February 2008)
"The successor to the cult favorite Kiki KaiKai series, known more commonly as Pocky & Rocky in North America. It is not precisely the Kiki KaiKai 2 sequel that had previously been announced and canceled - however it is developed by the same company, Starfish SD, and has been described as a "spiritual successor" and is allegedly "very similar" to the cancelled game according to Kiki Kai World's publisher, UFO Entertainment."
Some other alternative titles to mention might include Baroque, Mana Khemia, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, Persona 3 FES and a host of others. Again, it's not as if these titles all wouldnt have been released before.
But in a time that a lot of people are concentrating on the 'next-gen experiences', it's great to see some exquisitely niche PlayStation 2 titles - often with wonderfully crafted gameplay - flowing into the West.
Sure, these are niche games which may only sell 10,000 or 20,000 copies, but with the titles already produced for the Japanese market, and with Japanese game developers increasingly targeting the Western market, we may well see more in the future.

"This year will be landmark for SingStar as we continue to deliver compelling content on PlayStation 2 while also revolutionizing the franchise as we bring it to PlayStation 3 on May 20 by giving players access to purchase hundreds of songs and videos across multiple genres, build and customize party playlists, and build a community of user-created performances."
Regardless of music or gaming ability, aspiring rock stars can select from 30 hit songs to sing along with while watching the actual music video on screen. Performing to such crowd pleasing favorites as "U Can't Touch This", "Pump up the Jam", and "Ice Ice Baby", players can take their turn in the spotlight solo-style or share the spotlight with multiplayer modes, including cooperative Duet Mode, one-on-one Battle Mode, and the team-based Pass-the-Mic which accommodates up to eight players. In addition, SingStar '90s is compatible with the popular EyeToy USB camera which allows players to watch themselves belt it out as the main act and record their performance for playback. Players can also save their favorite vocal performances onto a Memory Card for future audio playback and customize and enhance playback with numerous effects.
SCEA will support SingStar '90s with a media advertising campaign, full promotional support including in-store demonstrations, retailer supported Social Gaming Areas, merchandising support, broad-based public relations support, and an immersive and interactive SingStar website at http://www.us.playstation.com/singstar/.
The independent Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated SingStar '90s "T" for "Teen". For more information about the ESRB, please visit www.esrb.org.

UPDATE: Scripts file creation prg
http://sebonpsp.googlepages.com/PPGScripts.zip
This archive contains the script update.sh that allows you to create your own file tnt.prg.gz (which should be called like that, whatever its content!). Addictions: wget, wput, md5sum, xmltv, libxml2.
Launch:
. / Update_tnt.sh
And / or
. / Update_freebox.sh
To create the files. Prg.gz respective companies. Note: the current version of PPG not charge the file if it is called tnt.prg.gz, so for free, you must rename the file.
Get_icons.sh is by no means automatic hand. I advise you not to try to add your icons. There will an icon PPG default.
The next release should not delay in arriving, with a lot of new features:
-- Choice of the connection (DONE)
-- Sort of chains by drag'n'drop (DONE)
-- New graphics (80%)
-- All the icons channels (DONE)
-- Default path screenshots -> PICTURES (DONE)
-- Config file (90%)
-- Support for other channels (ie. support other repository + other files prg) (RFR)
Enjoy
