I have a new release that I'd like to get posted here. It's called PSPEText. You can find it here: http://sites.google.com/site/qbradq/projects-1/pspetext with source and Makefile included.
Here's the ABOUT section from the readme:
PSPEText is a kernel-mode plugin that allows you to pause any PSP game at any
time and read text files stored on the memory stick. This is useful for reading
FAQs from sites like www.gamefaqs.com while playing your favorite PSP games.
This text reader supports both a 60-column display and an 80-column display,
which can be switched between at runtime. The 80-column display is a little
less readable, but a must-have for reading FAQ files.
Also, I'm working on a new port of the Frotz Z-Machine emulator to PSP. I've got the actual emulator working and am now working on the user interface. Given that, I'd like access to post on the news forum.
Thanks for your consideration!

Uberjack has posted this update on his site:
It’s been a while since I last wrote a post, so I thought it only fair to update on my recent work.
I considered the requests to write another port of Castaway, and actually began porting two different versions to PSP. Both attempts ended similarly – 4-color mode works, but the 16-color mode sets the emulator in an infinite loop, from which it never exits. My attempts to get in touch with the earlier developer of Castaway (PSP) were unsuccessful, so after about a week of hitting brick walls, I abandoned the work. I may still return to it eventually (VICE PSP was shelved for about 3 months before I got it to work), but I’m not completely certain, and would rather not make any promises I can’t keep.
Other than that, I got a Google Android phone recently, and found myself fascinated with the platform. The idea that one can actually look at the source code of one’s own cellular phone seems almost surreal, yet it’s very much a reality. I’m currently working on an XBox Live Profile viewer, which will be releasing soon – if you’re interested, check back in a while. I’m fairly certain that I will not be porting any emulators to the platform, as its controls are woefully inadequate for proper game enjoyment, and the platform is more or less limited to Java development (read: managed platform; considerable speed limitations).
That said, I’m not abandoning PSP development. But I do feel like I should take a break for a while.

New revision of the plugin created by macrophytes ClassG Japanese coder, which allows us to configure key combinations you can do with the push of just one, adjust the sensitivity of the analog stick and set the automatic pressure of a given key. In this version, which found the download to follow, we find a couple of interesting additions and correction of some minor bugs.
Changelog:
Quote:
- Added the function "Auto-Hold", with which we can block a certain key combo to use it solely through
- Keys X / O will be set automatically according to configuration in the registry

PSPKVM is a Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) CLDC/MIDP Emulator for the Sony PSP.
Quote:
PSPKVM Test Builds
There are currently a few ´unofficial´ or test builds up, for testing various features.
(Note: 0.5.4 test releases are in .tgz format--or gzipped tarballs. Notes on handling these, if you´re new to them, are here.)
0.5.5 Test 3 (Uploaded Nov. 13, 2009)
This release improves file-based MP3 playback capability and contains some GUI enhancements. The package is a ´bare eboot´ .zip, containing only the EBOOT.PBP (replace the one in our current 0.5.4 install or a previous 0.5.5 test build with it to add these features). The download is here.
Changes include:
* MP3 support adds seeking support, time display, wider compatibility with varied stream formats, support for ID3 V2 tags.
* Made forms (includes AMS), lists (includes wifi selector) and menus ´loop´ top to bottom/bottom to top when scrolling past the end; much of this is merged MR4 code.
* Redrew Unicode page 03 (Greek) for the built-in font entirely--glyphs now match general pitch and appearance of Latin, Cyrillic. Added accented vowels, terminal sigma; completes modern Greek support in built-in font.
* Added Unicode pages 21-26, 30-33, f9-fa, fe-ff to built-in font from old CJK-ordered tables--lost in previous builds due to various changes--adds Chinese punctuation, CJK extensions, miscellaneous symbols.
* Made system folder closed at startup.

Sony has confirmed 16-person multiplayer for SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 on PSP.
There will be eight custom maps and seven new game modes, each with custom objectives, said the company on the US PlayStation blog.
There's a brand new Leader mode that assigns one person who all team members will spawn next to on their mission toward objective points. Plus, there's a new Tug of War game where teams drain points from each other as they collect tickets.
Fireteam Bravo 3 has local and online multiplayer, with the latter supporting tournaments, clans, ladders, voice chat and character customisation.
SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 will be available on 12th January in the US.
Sony told Eurogamer this morning that there is still no date other than "2010" for Europe.

If what we saw at CEATEC is any indication, we can all look forward to a future where damn near every new piece of Sony kit that we lay our hands on will support its fledgling wireless technology, TransferJet. As you might have guessed, we've been keeping our eyes on the usual channels in vain hopes of finding any gear sporting the new standard. So, what do we have here? Our friends at Sony Insider have spotted FCC paperwork for the MS-JX8G, which is apparently a Memory Stick Duo that sports the protocol -- and which (hopefully) means that someday soon we'll be able to grandfather TransferJet into all of our existing Memory Stick Duo-supporting devices. Pretty clever, Sony!

Gamers in Japan with both a PSP and PS3 have been able to use the adhocParty service to expand their multiplayer gaming options for quite a while now, and it looks like folks in North American will soon finally be able to get in on the action as well. For those not up to speed on it, the service effectively lets you use your PS3 as a gateway to let you play PSP games with an ad hoc mode (like Gran Turismo or Monster Hunter) over the internet instead of simply with other PSP users near you. You'll also be able to make use of the PS3's wireless headset or PlayStation Eye for voice chat with the service, but you will have to make sure your PS3 is connected to the internet via Ethernet or a wireless bridge (since it makes use of the built-in WiFi to connect to the PSP). Still no firm word on a release date, but it will be a free download from the PlayStation Store.

Enthusiasts have long suggested the PlayStation 3 to their family and friends as one of the better and most affordable Blu-ray players. Lately, prices of Blu-ray players have been coming down, but the PS3 is still one of the better options out there. Sony is taking advantage of this by starting to offer game demos on their Blu-ray offerings. While these demos will only be playable on the PS3, they hope the extra value will help drive sales.

Final Fantasy XIII fans expecting post-launch DLC could be in for a disappointment, if comments made by Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase are anything to go by.
Speaking to CVG in a recent interview, Kitase told us: "Unfortunately, it has been decided that no DL contents will be available for the Japanese version due out in December, while no decision has been made for the overseas versions."
So - depending on the accuracy of Square Enix's translation - either Japan's not getting any download content at launch, or it's missing out entirely.
While on the subject of online features such as DLC, Kitase said he doesn't feel under pressure to adopt the bulletpoints of Western RPGs such as Fallout 3 and Mass Effect.
"I do not feel any pressure," he said. "We intend to ensure that Final Fantasy titles we produce will be highly appreciated worldwide. Hence we always expose ourselves to inspirations from western products in attempts to digest and apply them for Final Fantasy."

The fans of the famous card game Magic know definitely "Wagic The Homebrew?!" The homebrew game developed by wololo quite faithfully reproducing the mechanisms of the game on PSP. Today we propose an update to the program itself, but an interesting mod "amateur" dedicated to Star Wars Wagic introduces a new set of cards, not change the graphics and sound effects and fixes a number of minor bugs. Recall that the package already includes the version 0.9.3 (unofficial) homebrew and all the necessary files.

SNK is big on compilation discs, but most of those contain Neo Geo classics. SNK Arcade Classics 0 appears to focus on the company’s earlier days. Maybe. Probably.
SNK Arcade Classics 0 hasn’t been officially announced, but the ESRB rated it and the twenty games it contains. Let’s take a look at their description.
This is a collection of 20 classic arcade games comprising several distinct genres: action, fighting, sports (baseball, football, Olympics), shooting, platforming. Some games involve side-scrolling fighting action against hordes of enemy thugs, soldiers, and creatures; players can use knives, guns, flamethrowers, tanks, and grenades when engaging in the 2D-style combat. The game receives a Mature rating for one game’s depiction of blood and gore: In SAR (Search and Rescue), blood covers the entire floor of some rooms. Although the perspective is top-down and the graphics are somewhat minimal (2D), there are frequent depictions of mangled human corpses strewn—or lying face-down—in pools of blood.
Wow, Search and Rescue alone caused this compilation to get a M rating? I believe Search and Rescue was released before the Neo Geo too. SAR and the “0” in the title appear to be hints that SNK Arcade Classics 0 will have their 80s stuff instead of Neo Geo games.
Following this logic, the Olympic game could be Gold Medalist. The football one? Touch Down Fever. Guns? Perhaps, Ikari Warriors and P.O.W. Given the success of The King of Fighters, SNK has to throw Athena in a pre-Neo Geo collection too.
Any other guesses or wishes?
