While we might think of the $250 PSPgo pricetag in the States as a criminal act on the part of an out-of-touch and-yet-malicious multinational corporation, we can only imagine how our unfortunate counterparts in the UK felt, staring down a £225 list price (about $371 US). Luckily, that quickly dropped to £200 after a week of sales, and now the console can be had for as low as £149 at UK entertainment retailer HMV. That converts rather tidily to $245 US, which is unfortunately about as far as the console has been discounted around these parts. There's no way to tell how many more months of dour faces and crossed arms pointed in the general direction of Sony Computer Entertainment America it'll take to get that price down to something more realistic Stateside, at which point we can start this whole UK / US price disparity drama all over again.

Sony has popped out a patch for EyePet, enabling online video sharing by the community.
That's great.
The developer has also ironed out some kinks and EyePets will be able to hear you properly regardless of PlayStation Eye microphone settings. Various other teeny tweaks have been made that you may or may not notice.
EyePet, for those unaware, is a PlayStation Eye game about interacting with a cute pet. Head over to our EyePet review to find out more.

Entertainment retailer HMV has dropped the price of the PSPgo to GBP 148.99 in the UK.
The handheld hardware was first launched at the start of October with an RRP of GBP 224.99, but retail quickly slashed the price to below GBP 200 after less than a week on sale.
While larger retailers were happy to initially sell the console, smaller stores were more vocal about the machine, with Chips MD Don McCabe going so far as to predict the hardware would"fail miserably" without traditional boxed software support at retail.
Although sales have been modest, Sony has been praised for taking an early lead with a console that relies purely on digital content, with many expecting the industry to turn to increasingly turn to download-only models for future revenue.

Would a homebrew breakthrough save the PSPGo, its weird but i do reckon that homebrew would be extremely good for the PSPGo, who agrees or disagrees ?

Another awards night, another prize for Media Molecule, which last night collected the BAFTA for Best Videogame at the 2009 Children's Awards, having picked up the Artistic Achievement prize at the gaming ceremony earlier this year.
Clutching the weighty award, presented by The Gadget Show's Jason Bradbury, studio boss Mark Healey told GamesIndustry.biz: "It means a lot. It was always an early ambition to make something that appeals to adults and kids, specifically that adults and kids could play together and have fun and I suppose winning this some way confirms that maybe we did that.
"We've won so many awards for it, it's like, how do we ever top this? I don't think I'll appreciate how really cool it is until I'm old!"
The PlayStation 3 title beat off competition in its category from Boom Blox Bash Party, de Blob and Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise.
PlayStation UK boss Ray Maguire, also in attendance at the celebrity-packed bash at London's Hilton Park Lane, said: "It's absolutely fantastic. LittleBigPlanet is one of those games that comes along and it's absolutely unique. It's unique in the way it's formed, it's unique in the way it touches consumers, the way it allows them to contribute to the art form itself. It's as much a part of adult entertainment as it is kids' entertainment and that's one of the special things about it."
Maguire, who rushed over to Healey's table to congratulate him after the ceremony, added: "They are absolutely delighted. To have a new IP on a single platform do over half a million in the UK alone is just testament to the amount of skill and artistry that's gone in from Media Molecule.
"At the end of it, I sell and market the product; they're the ones that create it, they're the inspiration and they're the ones that deserve the award."
Asked what gamers could expect next from the franchise, Healey teased: "More versatility, that's what I'd say. LittleBigPlanet has a lot more room to absorb a lot more things before we say goodbye to that one. I think every year from now on should be a big year for LittleBigPlanet, hopefully".
The EA British Academy Children's Awards 2009 also proved a successful night for Nintendo, with Wii Sports Resort winning the Games category of the BAFTA Kids' Vote, voted for by children aged between seven and 14.
The event, hosted by TV presenters Dick and Dom, was attended by stars of film and TV plus gaming's own A-list, with Traveller's Tales head of development Jonathan Smith present, whose studio picked up the videogames award last year for LEGO Batman.

Media Molecule will roll a LittleBigPlanet patch called Leedrammer out today that adds, among other things, four-player online cooperative map-making! Until now, only two could work together on new stages.
Leedrammer also brings location-based matchmaking and a faster, improved save system that backs-up profiles and levels (hooray!). There's twice as much space for photos and costumes on the Popit menu too.
Head over to the Media Molecule website for a roundup of the smaller changes as well as a video walkthrough of the Leadrammer update.
LittleBigPlanet was released last autumn, and those new to PS3 ought to consider picking a now discounted (Platinum Hits) version of the game. It was Eurogamer's Game of the Year 2008, after all.

Seems that we may be waiting a fair bit for a new custom firmware, heres the news translated from pspita
In the latter period when they will be asked in many forums discussing the twisting or unnecessary: why in January the team has not released (or made public its intention of wanting to drop) a completely new version of their custom firmware from firmware 6:00 ? The answer comes to us today directly on the French site, and is more complex than expected.
We start with good news, the team has for some time to work on this concept of CF and, to demonstrate this, gives us the three thumbnail images that you can find below. The matter becomes more complicated, however, the transition from CF 5:50 GEN-D2 to a hypothetical January 6:10 involve a series of complications in the opening game with additional protection and anti-CF homebrew developed for smaller versions that would make de facto incompatible most of the applications currently in circulation. An effort of this kind, which would force all developers to update their work properly, it is in fact justified by the introduction of new features in firmware officer who, remember, is the new SensMe Channel and into your digital comics.
Finally, however, reminds us that the team will continue to update regularly old version to extend the compatibility and, of course, the design of this new CF will not be abandoned.
Heres hoping team m33 release a much wanted new firmware

An image of what appears to be the back of the Final Fantasy XIII box has confirmed the RPG's rather friendly memory management.
When the game eventually hits Japan next month, it won't require a mandatory hard drive install and game saves too come in at a tiny 500kb. Great news for PS3 owners who've filled up their hard drives with dodgy late night PlayTV recordings, then.
The image also confirms that the PS3 version will sport high quality LPCM 5.1 audio and CGI cut-scenes are encoded in full 1080p, while the game itself runs in 720p.
The long-awaited RPG has at last been dated for March 9, 2010 in Europe and North America, on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

For those of you out there on your third or fourth sleepless night, unable to catch some Zs for worry that Sony is losing money on its physical-media PSP models to the PSP Go, it's time to rest easy. Sony Europe head Andrew House recently told GamesIndustry.biz that digitally distributed titles are "additive to the business." Better yet, newer PSPs aren't eating older ones. "I don't think there's been a huge amount of cannibalization." Okay, okay, he's talking about PSP Go sales proverbially "eating up" PSP-3000 sales.
He even goes as far as to state that "those sales [PSP Go sales] have come in and lifted overall PSP sales" – something we've heard stated before by execs at Sony Europe. We're not exactly sure what the strategy is behind using your new $250 PSP to sell your old (and arguably more feature-rich) PSP-3000, but we're still hopeful that Sony sees a long-term plan where we see a really expensive, download-only handheld.

Sony has promised a selection of more than 500 comics when its PSP Comic Store arrives in mid-December.
Comic publishers pledging support so far are Marvel (Astonishing X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Amazing Spider-Man), 2000AD (Judge Dredd, Durham Red), Disney (Mickey Mouse, Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck) and IDW (Astro Boy, Transformers, Star Trek, Wormwood).
Less well-known outfits Insomnia (Burke & Hare, Cages, Cancer Town), iVerse (responsible for Ape Entertainment, Archie Comics, Dabel Brothers, Image & Red 5 content) and Titan (Wallace & Gromit) are also on-board.
The Digital Reader - the application you'll need to read with - is already available, and Sony suggests downloading the latest PSP firmware and installing this to be prepared. The program will flick through pages and zoom and pan with ease, the European PlayStation blog tells us.
Sony is offering a bunch of codes on the blog to download some sample comics with.

November 27th, 2009, 15:03 Posted By: wraggster
Broadpoint AmTech analyst Ben Schachter has put the possible revenues for Activision from Modern Warfare 2 DLC at USD 140 million as the publisher looks to generate a long tail.
He arrives at that figure by comparing the estimated revenues generated from last year's title, Call of Duty: World at War, based on the sales of map packs across 2009, and factoring in total unit sales of Modern Warfare 2 of between USD 14-16 million, reports IndustryGamers.
"Call of Duty DLC can be a solid contributor to Activision's 2010 EPS," he wrote. "As with the last two CoD titles, the game itself should maintain its USD 60 launch price until the next iteration (due in large part to the value of its online gameplay), but Activision will also benefit significantly from the high-margin DLC potential enabled by the packaged product's success.
"We estimate that Activision will generate at least USD 100-140 million in gross revenue from Call of Duty DLC in 2010. After paying the platform holders an estimated 30 per cent, this should generate roughly USD 59-85 million in EBIT and contribute 4-5 cents to EPS."
And in keeping with the company's decision to position the main game at a higher SRP than other titles, Schachter believes that the DLC will also be priced above average.
"Though the company has not announced anything, we would not be surprised to see the content expand significantly beyond simple map packs to include new missions, modes of play, and in-game items (who wouldn't pay for a night-time desert assault mission, a 2x2 capture the flag mode, or a very, very sharp bowie knife?) The point is that Call of Duty's fan base will pay for additional content, and we expect Activision's Infinity Ward to monetize that throughout 2010," he said.
Activision revealed that Modern Warfare 2 had grossed USD 550 million in its first five days on sale - a new entertainment industry record.

The Royal Navy will hand out PlayStation Portables to some of its sailors in an attempt to motivate them to study more while at sea.
The platform is seen as more attractive alternative to books and an effective learning method which can be used in an individual's bunk space - while the Navy has also cut its training costs to GBP 200 per hour as part of its wider efficiency drive.
The Weapons Engineering School has purchased 230 consoles, reports The Times, which will be pre-loaded with bursts of training around eight to twelve minutes in length, and the first staff to receive them will be marine warfare engineering technicians, who are responsible for radar, sonar, VHF radio and communications systems.
"You have a voiceover as well as a presentation to explain it, instead of having to sit there and read it from a book and fix it in your own mind," said leading engineering technician Chris Colpus - one of those to have used the PSPs already. "As soon as people know they are going on a course, they are going to want to get their hands on these as quickly as possible so you can get a heads-up on the maths."
But despite their primary use as education, the Navy opted not to remove the UMD drive, so sailors are able to play games as well.
"I thought if we don't disable it, it'll be better looked after," commented the man behind the scheme, Lieutenant-Commander Mark 'Beasty' Williams. "They are also engineering technicians and would probably be able to fix it themselves."

The return of Cody and Guy to Street Fighter isn't the only Final Fight news this week. Capcom has announced Final Fight Double Impact for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, featuring not just the arcade version of the Metro City brawler, but Magic Sword as well!
Final Fight Double Impact, as the collection is titled, will feature optional graphical filters and a visual mode that makes the games appear as if they're being played on an arcade machine. Most importantly, both games will have drop-in online co-op. Capcom hasn't priced the collection yet, but there's no way the company will charge more than we've already put into Magic Sword machines over the years.
