Microsoft's new Xbox 360 model has sold 15,000 units in Japan during its first week on sale, pushing total sales of the console to 17,370 in the region.
That's a massive surge compared to last week's paltry 2060 units, with the console also helped by the release of Capcom's Monster Hunter Frontier Online which took the number one spot for the week ended June 27.
The console went on sale June 24, meaning sales figures reported by Andriasang only account for four days on the market. The slim model sells for ¥29,800 with the Elite SKU dropped in price to ¥24,800.
However, Nintendo's DSi LL was the big seller for the week, shifting over 40,000 units, significantly ahead of sales of the PSP, PlayStation 3 and Wii.
The full hardware chart follows:
DSi LL: 41,676
PSP: 23,257
PS3: 19,578
Wii: 19,115
Xbox 360: 17,370
DSi: 17,306
DS Lite: 5209
PS2: 1530
PSPgo: 845
