The video game adaptation of the classic children's picture book Where the Wild Things Are has been confirmed.
Due to be published by Warner on DS, PS3, Wii and 360, the game is scheduled to reach consumers in November this year. On 11th December 2009 a Spike Jonze-directed film based on the Maurice Sendak book is to be released by Warner Bros.
“Where the Wild Things Are is a beloved children’s story and we are excited to deliver an immersive interactive experience based on and inspired by the feature film from Spike Jonze,” said Samantha Ryan, senior vice president, production and development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
“Through their action-filled adventure, players will team-up with the Wild Things – each with their own unique skills or special talents – learn valuable new abilities and work together to find a way to safety.”
The game lets players assume the role of the book's lead protagonist, Max, as he explores the Wild Things' home and befriends the fearsome but kind-hearted creatures.
Where the Wild Things Are is being developed for the three major console formats by Amaze Entertainment, a Foundation 9 studio, and for the DS by WayForward.
First details of the Warner game emerged when a staff biography of Amaze’s studio head Michael Waite listed the product, but the recent confirmation by the publisher comes as the first solid news on the title.
