Sony has announced a redesigned Playstation Vita and the Vita TV, a microconsole that plays Vita games on users’ TVs.
The Playstation Vita Slim, 20 per cent thinner and 15 per cent lighter than the Vita, will be released in Japan on October 10th and will cost ¥18,980 (£122).
The device loses the Vita’s OLED screen, bumps up battery life to six hours and includes 1GB of on-board memory. On the outside, the device will come in white, black, grey, blue, yellow and pink.
Revealed alongside the Slim, the 10cm by 6cm Playstation Vita TV is a microconsole that plugs into a gamer’s TV and provides the ability to play Vita and PSP games using a Dualshock 3 controller and access streaming video and TV services.
The Vita TV will launch in Japan on November 14th for ¥9,480 (£61). A bundle including an 8GB memory card and joypad will cost ¥14,280 (£92).
