Take-Two has revealed that Grand Theft Auto IV has sold over 17 million copies worldwide and is still going strong.
The game hit PS3 and 360 in April 2008, and later released on PC in December '08. Two major expansion packs, The Lost and Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony, hit Xbox 360 exclusively in 2009, while the expansions finally made it to PS3 and PC earlier this year.
Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick said the firm anticipates the game to have a long-lasting lifespan, following in the footsteps of its predecessor, GTA: San Andreas, which had sold over 21.5 million copies worldwide on all formats as of March 2008.
GTA IV's sales have jumped two million since March this year, when Take-Two announced it had sold 15 million units worldwide.
It made no mention of GTA V, but Zelnick acknowledged that 'consumer demand for the series remains to be very strong.'
