Pre-orders for this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops are already on par with those made for last year’s best-selling Modern Warfare 2.
Activision’s chief financial officer Thomas Tippl was speaking to investors at the publisher’s E3 conference last night. He said: “Pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops are being made at a pace similar to Modern Warfare 2.
“The game is on track to create another exciting holiday season this year.”
Treyarch-developed Black Ops is the latest in Activision’s Call of Duty franchise and goes on sale on November 9th with an RRP of £54.99. The title is set during the Cold War and features missions made by secret black ops teams around the world.
Treyarch previously told MCV it believes that Black Ops can better the success of Modern Warfare 2.
Activision also revealed at its E3 conference that Modern Warfare 2 has sold over 20m copies worldwide since release.
