News from CVG
In a bit of a 'whoops-a-daisy' moment, it appears that EBGames.com has accidentally let slip confirmation of a new SOCOM titles headed to PS2 and PSP.
According to reports, the e-tailer published two product pages yesterday unveiling SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault on PS2 and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 on PSP, but then quickly pulled the pages down - however, not before they were spotted by eagle-eyed special forces operatives.
PS2 SOCOM game Combined Assault was listed for a November 2006 release, with EBGames' product page carrying a brief description of the title, saying: "Battle through an intense Area of Operation with multiple and diverse missions spawning within this deadly region". It added that the sequel features new vehicles and weapons for single-player and co-op modes, with one of the co-op modes allowing four people to fight their way through the single-player campaign.
PSP sequel Fireteam Bravo 2, meanwhile - and according to EBGames' product page - is due later this year and features a new single-player campaign, 10 new multiplayer maps (playable online and on local wireless) new weapon types and new terrain and enemies.
Mention was additionally made on the Combined Assault product page of connectivity between the two SOCOM games - the PS2 title boasting "more robust Crosstalk with SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2, including a single story arc, and all new action events and unlockables."
As yet, there's no confirmation from Sony on either of the SOCOM titles appearing on EBGames, but it's the general consensus that both games are very much in existence. If that's the case, then it's more than likely we'll hear official word at this year's E3 in May.
