US retailer GameStop has said that it sold approximately 1 million copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 worldwide at its midnight launch events. GameStop boss Tony Bartel told Bloombergthat the game looks set to break records for the retailer."Black Ops II is shaping up to be our biggest game launch of all time," said Bartel. "GameStop sold more than 1 million units worldwide during our midnight launch period." That's just a fraction of what's expected from the game's full day-one sales, as analyst Michael Olson predicts launch day sales of between 6.5 million and 7.2 million units in the US and UK, according to the report. Activision said last week that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has the potential to become the best-selling game of all time, with pre-order numbers exceeding that of Modern Warfare 3 - "the most successful pre-order program of all time".
