The PC release of standalone DayZ may still be some way off, but that hasn’t stopped creator Dean Hall hinting at a console release.
The DayZ Arma II mod enjoyed huge success last year, so much so that Arma devs Bohemia recruited the mod’s maker to produce an official standalone release. But having missed its 2012 release window, the SKU is still many months away.
However, such is the hunger for the game that it could even pave the way for an arrival on consoles, with PS4 looking a likely destination.
"Certainly I think if we don't, for want of a better word '**** up', the PC release then I would say a console port is almost certain," Hall told The Escapist.
"I know a lot of people get really hot and bothered about it. Like, I'm not a console gamer, I'm a PC gamer, but I don't think it necessarily has to hurt things.
"It appears to be the kind of game that Sony are interested in, I think we just have to wait and see. We've talked and met with Sony, and they're very – you know, they're obviously interested."
Hall added that as it stands DayZ is not in development on console.
Could this point to a possible console release for Bohemia’s Arma III, which is currently available in Alpha on Steam?
