Sony could be set to announce a multichannel TV service to rival cable at CES 2013 next week. According to Variety the PlayStation firm is in active negotiations with "at least two major content companies" about licensing their channels for a package that could roll out in the US later this year. The service would offer a package of linear channels delivered via broadband connection.
Few specifics are provided about the proposed service, but it's suggested Sony could leverage the range of connected devices already in US homes including PlayStation 3s, Bravia TV sets and Blu-ray players.
A Sony spokesman declined comment regarding "rumors or speculation."
