THQ has announced Saints Row: The Third - Enter The Dominatrix, a standalone expansion for its 2011 crime caper to be released at a budget price this autumn.
In a press release, the publisher reveals that the expansion adds one major feature: superpowers.
THQ's core games boss Danny Bilson said: "Faster than a speeding cyber jetbike, more powerful than a roided-out Luchadore, able to leap flying aircraft carriers in a single bound. - that's the power you'll find inside the Dominatrix. Use it for good. Use it for evil. Use it for whatever you want. As always in Saints Row, it's up to you.
"With a franchise with more than 11 million units shipped globally, it's incredibly gratifying to have the flexibility to give Saints Row fans the features they want most.
"Freaking superpowers."
Saints Row has, of course, never needed much in the way of narrative justification for its more over-the-top elements, but superpowers are something of a stretch even for a game which tasked players with ridding Steelport of a zombie invasion at the behest of mayor Burt Reynolds.
As the name implies, Enter The Dominatrix takes its inspiration from 1999 Wachowski Brothers movie The Matrix. Zinyak, an extraterrestrial with an eye on universal domination, captures the leader of the Saints and imprisons him or her in a virtual reality simulation that looks and feels exactly like Steelport, the setting forSaints Row: The Third.
No release date was set, though THQ confirms that the game will retail for $29.99, with more information promised this summer.
