Sony has outlined several new initiatives for its PlayStation Plus service, including extra cloud storage and new trial periods for PlayStation 4 owners.
PS Plus subscribers will receive 3 GB of cloud storage when using PS4, compared to the 2 GB offered on PS Vita and PS3. Meanwhile, users can take advantage of a 14 day trial period for PS Plus, which will allow access to the Instant Game Collection, online play, and cloud storage. Additionally, those who subscribe to PS Plus for a year before September 20 will receive an additional 90 days access to their account.
The company also confirmed Super Stardust "spiritual successor" Resogun will be free to all PS Plus subscribers at launch, in addition to the previously confirmedDriveclub.
Sony confirmed at E3 2013 that PS Plus will be required in order to access online multiplayer. This is in contrast with the PS3, which offers free access to multiplayer.
A game business analyst has predicted that moving multiplayer behind a paywall will deliver profits of up to $1.2 billion per year for Sony.
A yearly subscription to PS Plus costs $69.95 in Australia, £39.99 in the UK, €49.99 in Europe and $49.95 in the US.
