Gran Turismo 6 will allow players to boost their in-game credits with real-money purchases, Sony has confirmed.
In a series-first move, a new microtransaction system will let users purchase in-game credits in denominations of 500K, 1 million, 2.5 million or 7 million credits.
Credits are used to purchase cars and performance parts in-game and, as with past GT games, are otherwise earned by winning racing events. Microtransaction purchases are expected to be non-essential and entirely optional.
Pricing was not confirmed in the announcement.
Sony has also announced that Gran Turismo 6 is now available for digital pre-order via the EU PlayStation Store.
Alongside a 'Standard Edition' is a 'Special Edition' version, which includes 20 extra cars (Torque, Performance, Adrenaline and Velocity packs), custom PSN avatars, paint chips, race suits and race helmets.
Placing a pre-order on either version will also get you the Precision Pack, which comes with an additional five cars including a Nissan GT-R, Corvette C7 and an Audi R8 (pictured above).
The pre-orders aren't yet available on the US PS Store, and there's no word on when they will be. The US PS Store, however, updates weekly on Tuesdays.
The PlayStation 3 exclusive introduces new circuits to the series, including Mount Panorama, Ascari, Silverstone and Goodwood, and will feature up to 1200 cars and 100 track layouts.
Gran Turismo 6 will release December 6 exclusively for PS3.
